Diary dates

World Book Day

On Thursday 5th March we will be celebrating this year’s World Book Day. This day acknowledges the importance of reading for pleasure and we are in the process of planning some exciting events for the children. This is advance notice that on the day children will be invited to dress up as a character from a book.

March 25th - Year 1 play. Time tbc.

English

Phonics:

This week we will be continuing Phase 5b of our phonics.

Writing:

This week we will be:

  • Carefully choosing vocabulary to write a setting description. We will be using the different senses to describe a setting from ‘The Storm Whale’.

  • We will be using ‘and’ to join two sentences together. Each part must make sense on it’s own e.g. The grass swayed in the wind and the waves splashed gently on the sand.

  • Writing our setting description from our plans.

Reading:
Please continue to read daily with your child at home to support. Please remember to log this in your child’s reading record to support us to know if how many times they have read the book at home when we come to read with them.

Maths

We will be comparing the  mass of objects using the language heavier/lighter/heaviest/lightest.
