
Wednesday 1st April: Year 2 trip to Bristol Zoo Project.
We have some exciting news for you! We are taking part in Big Walk and Wheel, the UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking, wheeling and scooting challenge. The challenge runs from 16 – 27 March 2026. It’s free to take part and we would love everyone to be involved.
What do you need to do?
Encourage your child(ren) to walk, scoot or cycle to school on as many days as possible during the event.

Writing
We will write our recount of world book day using our plans. We will use past tense verbs, first person and descriptive language.
We will then move on to a new unit of work focusing on the fable - Hare and the Tortoise. We will plan and write a retell of this familiar story.
Reading
Class text ‘The Rhythm of the Rain’. Our main focus is on summarising what we have read. This is about picking out the key points.

In maths, we are continuing our block on length and height.
We will be comparing length and height using the symbols <,> and =
We will be measuring objects and then ordering them from longest to shortest.
Solving word problems based on length, looking for key words to help us identify whether we need to add or subtract. E.g.

Active Travel Day - We have an assembly and a workshop all about the benefits of active travel.
PSHE: Appropriate contact: My private parts
Science: Science quiz for assessment and a science experiment to find out which paper is the most water resistant.
PE: Shine PE and class PE gymnastics
DT: We are starting a unit designing and making a chair for baby bear.
Computing: We are going to learn how to take photographs using an ipad. We will look at different views (aerial view and eye level view), how to ‘focus’ the image and lighting.
