English

Phonics: 

Phase 5c phonics

Reading

We will continue our work based on There’s a Rang-tan in My Bedroom. This week, the children will be using their inference skills to explore how authors and advertisers create emotional responses in their audience, as well as looking at how exaggeration can be used for dramatic effect.

Writing

We are continuing to focus on stories with familiar settings. This week, the children will be using their plans to write their own stories, drawing on the descriptive language and story-writing skills they have developed throughout the unit.

Maths   

 

Next week we will be looking at position and direction. Thinking about the language ‘left’, ‘right’, ‘forwards’ and ‘backwards’.

 

 

Wider Curriculum

 

Science: We will be revisiting our learning about plants and seasons. We will be doing an observational drawing on the same tree that we drew in the winter and compare and contrast the changes we notice.

 

Religion and World Views: We will be learning about Christian infant baptism.

 

History: We will be learning about changes in our living memory and looking at the stages of our lives so far.

 

PE: Sports Day!

 

DT: We will be making and evaluating our smoothies.

 

Computing: We will be exploring the software 2Go Maze explorers.
