Term 6, Week 6

Key dates 

  • Thursday 9th July - Open classrooms. This is a chance for you to look at the writing your child has done this year and visit their new classroom with them after school

  • Monday 13th July - Sports day

  • Wednesday 22nd July - Last day of Reception

  • Thursday 23rd July - First day of the summer holiday

  • Thursday 3rd September and Friday 4th September - Inset days.  School closed for children

  • Monday 7th September - Start of Year 1

The objectives below will be covered over the four ‘Structured Story Times’ this week.

Book:

The Dark

Vocabulary focus:

afraid, basement, distant, spread, visited, dared, gazing, bothered

At the end of the week, children will know:

  • the difference between day and night 

  • why and when it gets dark 

  •  that people can overcome their fears / worries.

At the end of the week, children will be able to:

  • explain how Laszlo overcame his fear of the dark 

  •  talk about how brave Laszlo was in the story 

  • describe the story setting and characters.
