Writing
We will continue to write up our stories of the Hare and the Tortoise.

We will then move onto a new unit of work on a familiar topic - non-chronological reports. We will explore a range of non-chronological reports, with a particular focus on Mae Jemison.
We will particularly focus on the difference between past and present tense this week. If you want to extend your child’s understanding of tense at home you can explore this webpage together: What are past, present and future tense? - BBC Bitesize
Many non-chronological reports are written in the present tense but our non-chronological reports will mostly use the past tense as we will be writing about what Mae Jemison did in the past.
Reading
This week we are learning a poem. We will perform elements of the poem as well as focusing on our inference skills to understand the meaning of it.

In maths, we are learning about mass.
We will be comparing mass using the language lighter, heavier and using the symbols <,> and =
We will be measuring objects in grams and kilograms using balance scales and circular scales.
We will learn that heavier objects should be measured in kilograms, kg and lighter objects in grams,g.
Solving word problems based on length, looking for key words to help us identify whether we need to add, subtract, multiply of divide.
Supporting at home - this is a brilliant opportunity to do some baking at home and get the scales out!

Science: Consolidating and assessing our unit on materials.
PE: Shine PE and class PE gymnastics
