Home learning Week 4 Term 6

For each day we are providing a reading activity, maths activity and an activity from the wider curriculum for children to complete. We have split it into a suggested 2 days but please feel free to complete as you wish over the time. We would also ask that you continue with daily reading. Children should have a copy of all the sheets in their bag, but they are also downloadable at the bottom of this page.

Activity for over both day is practising lines for the play! In addition to learning lines off by heart, here are some top tips for practising:
-Encourage children to speak more slowly than normal
-Learn their ‘cues’ - practise with them so they know what the person before them says.
-For actors - loud volume! (narrators will have a microphone)
-If your child has any jokes as part of their lines practise pausing in afterwards in case the audience laughs (and waiting for quiet before continuing)

    Day 1 - Wednesday 24th June

    Reading

World cup themed reading comprehension - there is a extract to read and some questions to answer about the text.

    Maths

Addition and subtraction - there are multiple options of sheets here. Sheet 2 from the Arithmetic attachment.

    Wider curriculum

Create an ‘all about me’ poster to tell Miss Lawton or Mr Grant about themselves. Be as creative as you can! You could include drawing a picture of yourself, hobbies, thing you are interested in, if you have any pets, favourite colour etc. (Plain piece of paper provided).

    Day 2 - Thursday 25th June

    Reading

Reading comprehension about bees - there is a extract to read and some questions to answer about the text.

    Maths

Multiplication and division - Sheet 4 from the Arithmetic attachment. We would solve both these by drawing groups. The multiplication questions can also mostly be solved by counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. There are some examples below.

    Wider curriculum

PSHE - this is a discussion activity and also has a video to watch about ‘needs versus wants’
