Reading
We will continue to look at our class text ‘The Lion Inside’ by Rachel Bright and John Field.
The book teaches the lesson that there is both a lion and a mouse inside us all and even the smallest creature can have the heart of a lion.
We will practise reading aloud with fluency and expression, how to explain our reasons for our predictions and how to retrieve information from the text.
Writing
We will be moving onto a new unit in English on recounts. The children will learn how to orally recount a real event from their own experience using past tense, including verbs ending in -ed and the personal pronoun “I”. They will also practise putting events in the order they happened and use photographs and time words to help them share their recount clearly.
Maths
Maths will start looking at simple fractions. We make links to fractions through:
-Doubling numbers

-Halving and quartering of 2D shapes
Wider Curriculum
