    Week 2

    Year 1   Learning- Term 6, Week 2

     

    English


    Phonics: 

    Recapping as required for each class.

    This week we will be carrying out the Phonics Screening Test.

    Reading

    We will be doing lots of work based on There’s a Rang-tan in My Bedroom this term. Our focus this week is on using exaggeration for dramatic effect and creating music to accompany the story.

    Writing

    We are continuing to focus on stories with familiar settings. We will be using adjectives to describe through the range of senses. 

    Maths   

     

    This week we will be learning more about addition and subtraction. Solving addition and subtraction number problems to 20.



     

    Wider Curriculum

     

    Science: - We will consolidate our learning about animals including humans, mammals, birds, amphibians and fish

     

    PSHE: Economic wellbeing- we will be looking at spending and saving.

     

    Geography - We will be starting our mapping and fieldwork and exploring what a map is. 

     

    DT: We will be taste testing different fruits for our smoothies (please check the sign up sheet and parent emails as we would be really grateful if you could sign up to bring some fruit in for weeks 2 and 3) :) 

    PE: To develop overarm throwing.

    Art: We will be making a printing stamp to create our pop art
