Phonics: 

Phase 5c phonics

Reading

Next week in Reading, we will begin our new book, The Proudest Blue. We will use clues from the title, illustrations and text to make thoughtful predictions about the story and its characters, before developing our retrieval skills by finding and accurately copying words from the text with similar meanings.

 

Writing

Next week in Writing, we will be exploring poetry by identifying patterns, rhythm and rhyming words in a range of poems. We will clap and count syllables, investigate the meaning of new vocabulary, and use these features to help us write and perform our own simple patterned poems.

Maths   

 

This week we will be having fun revising lots of our Year 1 maths through challenges and games.

 

Wider Curriculum

 

PE: We will have sports day where we can put into practise all of the skills we have learned this year!

 

Art - We will be creating artwork for our Year 2 classrooms based on the Maple and Sycamore tree. 

 

Geography - We will look at how to make a real map.

 

Music - We will be playing rhythm patterns to a steady pulse.
