For each day, we are providing a reading activity, maths activity and an activity from the wider curriculum for children to complete. We have split it into a suggested 2 days, but please feel free to complete it as you wish over the time. . Children should have a copy of all the sheets in their book bag, but they are also downloadable at the bottom of this page.
Reading:
Your child should have 2 reading books in their bag. Your child should read one of these books to you.
Complete sheet: Draw it - Phase 4 mastery (3). Your child may have a slightly different sheet e.g. Phase 3.
Maths:
Complete double sided Maths sheet - Exploring Patterns/Adding More. Your child will need some help to read the questions but please encourage them to do the maths as independently as possible. You could use resources to help you (e.g. small objects like Lego pieces).
Wider curriculum:
Create an ‘all about me’ poster to tell Miss Evans and Mrs Walshe or Miss Eskell about themselves. Be as creative as you can! You could include drawing a picture of yourself, hobbies, things you are interested in, if you have any pets, favourite colour etc. (Plain piece of paper provided).
Reading:
Your child should have 2 reading books in their bag. Your child should read the book they didn’t read yesterday to you.
Complete sheet: Draw it - Phase 4 mastery (4). Your child may have a slightly different sheet e.g. Phase 3
Maths:
Complete double sided Maths sheet - Counting to 20/Taking Away. Your child will need some help to read the questions but please encourage them to do the maths as independently as possible. You could use resources to help you (e.g. small objects like Lego pieces)
Wider curriculum (DT - water play):
Prior learning: This term, we have been learning about boats. The children have learnt about waterproof materials and floating and sinking.
Future learning: Next week, we will invite the children to share their findings with the class, so please take some photos and put them on Tapestry. At school in the week commencing 6th July children will design a boat to make and in the week commencing 13th July, they will make the boat.
Learning objective: To investigate how the shape and structure of containers affects the way they move.
You will need: A range of containers (for example: ice cream containers, small pots or bowls, tin foil boats, flat trays, cardboard boxes, Tupperware or containers – try to choose things that will float or move in different ways)
Fill a bath, sink, paddling pool or water tray with water.
Ask your child to come and explore the different containers through play to investigate how the shape and structure of the containers affects the way they move in water. Encourage them to think about:
– if the container is waterproof.
– if it floats well.
– if it is able to carry cargo or passengers (e.g. small world figures).
– which floats the best.
– if they are able to move smoothly or whether they tip over.
Friday 19th June - You should have received an email telling you who your child’s class teachers will be next year and the name of their new class. Please rest assured that we have lots of transition events planned between now and the summer holiday.
