    Term 5, Week 2

    Key dates 

    • Monday 4th May - school closed due to bank holiday

    • Tuesday 5th May - school closed for an inset day 

    • Saturday 16th May - School Mayfair

    • In Term 5, we are hoping that we will be able to do PE outside. If you haven't already, please make sure your child has appropriate footwear in their PE bag. The children can wear their school shoes if they are trainer-like. Please make sure children have socks too.

    Tapestry observation 

    The focus this week is Understanding the World. As the weather is getting warmer and plants are starting to grow again, we would like you to go outside and see if you can name some plants. Please send us photos of the plants, and we will ask your child to see if they can remember the names. We would also love to see any photos of your child gardening. 

    You can also send us any moments that you feel are significant in your child’s learning or want to share with your child’s class teachers. Click the links below to find out how to add observations from different devices.

    The objectives below will be covered over the four ‘Structured Story Times’ this week.

    The Wonder 

    Vocabulary focus:

    wonder, daydreamer, passenger, scatterbrained, laboratory, imagination, parade, trembling

    At the end of the week, children will know:

    • what an imagination is 

    • that pictures / art can show people’s thoughts and what is in their imagination 

    • that everyone has different strengths / interests. 

    At the end of the week, children will be able to:

    • explain why it is important to concentrate / pay attention in some scenarios 

    • simply explain how art can be used to express our imagination / thoughts / feelings 

    • make comparisons between themselves and the characters/scenarios in the story.

    • To name some common plants / vegetation, 

    • To talk about simple similarities and differences in plants. 

    Expressive Arts and Design 

    • To practise and apply threading skills with specific materials e.g. hessian and wool

    • To draw with increasing observation.
