    Term 6, Week 2

    Key dates 

    • Lunches - Please make sure you tell your child in the morning what you have ordered them for lunch. 

    • In Term 6, we are hoping that we will be able to do PE outside. If you haven't already, please make sure your child has appropriate footwear in their PE bag. The children can wear their school shoes if they are trainer-like. Please make sure children have socks too.

    • Wednesday 17th June - Sports day/morning. Parents invited to watch

    • Monday 29th June - Inset day. School closed for children

    Tapestry observation 

    The focus this week is Art/Literacy. Draw, paint or create a picture of your favourite story character and send us a photo. In class, we will then ask your child who their favourite character is and why. 

    You can also send us any moments that you feel are significant in your child’s learning or want to share with your child’s class teachers. Click the links below to find out how to add observations from different devices.

    The objectives below will be covered over the four ‘Structured Story Times’ this week.

    Vocabulary focus:

    Murky, glide, gulp, hope, shallow, except, sank, belonged 

    At the end of the week, children will know:

    • the life cycle of a frog

    • that frogs are amphibians and can be found living in ponds / in wet places

    • that growing can be different for everyone

    • that being small does not mean you are not strong or clever.

    At the end of the week, children will be able to:

    • explain how colour in illustrations can be used to create certain moods

    • talk about character feelings and empathise with these, e.g. understand why Tad felt sad when she wasn’t growing as quickly as her siblings

    • describe the story setting and characters

    Expressive Arts and Design 

    • To name an increasing number of instruments, describing the sounds they make and what they might be used for.

    • To test and make predictions for which materials float or sink.
